We believe in hair care, not hair control.

How we define luxury hair care

For us, a product is not a luxury if it is in conflict with nature or human dignity. It is not a luxury if it does not align with our values.
A true luxury is something that feels good when we experience it, but also drives positive change.

We simply bring you gentle, natural products that are a pleasure to use.

Why we created Ailani

For many years, society and the beauty industry has done a good job of telling us what we need to fix
about ourselves (or overlooking us completely). This often involves spending huge amounts of time and money
on unachievable beauty goals, with the result that whatever we look like, we can never feel quite good enough.

Ailani is our response to this, because we know there is a better way.

We want to put self-care before self-improvement, because we know you are great just the way you are.
Our hair care products are simple, streamlined and inclusive, with no unnecessary clutter.
They are kind to your hair and the planet. And they celebrate every type of hair equally, because we all deserve that.

Values

The story of Ailani

I’ve created Ailani out of necessity. The hair care industry did not offer the products that I needed. As a black woman with textured hair,
I felt that the beauty industry didn’t cater to me, and no matter how hard I tried, all I could find were the same generic hair care products.
On top of this, every product seemed to be made of suspicious chemicals. It didn’t seem like anyone would provide me
with the answers I needed, so I set about finding them myself.

I created my first product at home, in my kitchen; I shared it with some friends, and I was blown away by the positive feedback. It wasn't long before I realised
I wasn’t the only one searching for an answer. We didn't have the same hair type, but we did have the same concerns. What started as a personal journey became a joint project,
and I created products for every hair type or each friend. Making custom products is the only way to give everyone their best results.
After five years, many testing and with the help of specialists, a few patents later, AILANI was born.

Exclusive Formulas + Active Ingredients

We make simple, effective shampoo and hair care for all hair types. The products are carefully formulated and we think hard about what to put in, and what to leave out.
We rely on pure, active plant-based ingredients that deliver visible benefits, and never use SLS, sulphates, parabens or phthalates. Performance is key to all our formulas,
and they are designed to become part of a new mindset for self-care, a positive ritual that you can use to enhance your overall wellbeing.

We don’t make miracle claims or invent problems you didn’t know you had.

We simply bring you gentle, natural products that are a pleasure to use and offer long term results.

Sustainability

We are hands-on with the science of our products, developing exclusive and protected formulas that use sustainable ingredients made with synthetic biology and clean chemistry.
Our formulas are all vegan and cruelty-free. While we value form and function, we are fully committed to sustainability and put environmental benefits before opulent packaging.
Our packaging has been designed to be light-weight and streamlined with no unnecessary materials, and uses at least 25% post-consumer recycled material.
The refill pouch is made with 70% less plastic than bottles and all paperboard is FSC-certified. You’ll find all the information you need to recycle the packaging on each product.
